Six Nations Round Three Predictions: Scotland to grab win over England, Ireland to down Wales and France to beat Italy

Round Three of the Six Nations is upon us, and it looks to be yet another enticing round of rugby!

Round Three of the Six Nations is upon us, and it looks to be yet another enticing round of rugby!

All six teams are refreshed after the fallow week, and will all be looking to hit the ground running this weekend in what is set to be a blockbuster weekend. Let’s hope Netflix have their cameras ready!

The round kicks off in Dublin, as defending Grand Slam champions Ireland face Wales in the latest instalment of their growing rivalry. This fixture always brings plenty of drama, and there is no reason this weekend’s iteration will be any different.

This match is swiftly followed by the oldest match in test rugby, as Scotland face England at Murrayfield. Gregor Townsend’s men have had the better of their old enemy in recent years, winning five of the last six meetings. Will they make it six from seven on Saturday?

Rounding off the weekend, we venture to France as Les Bleus take on the Azzurri. This game is always a treat, and Fabien Galthié’s side will be targeting this game to get their Six Nations back on track after a bumpy start. The Italians will be no pushover though, so it sets up a tasty looking encounter.

Here are our predictions for round three of the Six Nations:

Wales have shown there is plenty of promise in their young side so far this tournament, however Ireland will be too much for them this weekend. Andy Farrell’s men are really showing why many consider them to be the best team in the world, and are playing some spectacular rugby.

Wales will again be competitive, and their previous games against Scotland and England showed they are capable of pushing teams close, but they’re inability to make chances count against England will need to be fixed if they want to beat a rampaging Ireland team.

Ahead of the tournament, many would have favoured England over Scotland, however the sharp differences in attack should help swing the game Scotland’s way. England seem to be lacking a creative spark in their attack this Six Nations, despite having players who like to play that way. Contrast this to Scotland, and its like watching a different sport.

Finn Russell’s maverick approach could also unpick the aggressive blitz defence England have adopted this Six Nations, which has been prone to exposure out wide. Scotland should claim a resounding victory.

France 40-24 Italy

France have had a bumpy start to the Six Nations this season, but their late flourish against Scotland showed they’re still capable of playing some fantastic rugby. The visit of the Azzurri gives them the perfect chance to not only get back on track performance wise, but also confidence wise.

The Italians come to France showing real signs of improvement this tournament, particularly against England. They can also play with real flair, and this could see them give France a good game on Sunday.
