Leicester Tigers have today confirmed five senior first team players will leave Welford Road at the end of the season.

Forwards Francois van Wyk, Nic Dolly and Dan Richardson, and backs Guy Porter and Matt Scott will all move to pastures new at the end of the season.

Their departures come amidst an overhaul of the Tigers playing group, as they join the likes of Jasper Weise and Phil Cokanasiga also leaving at the end of the current campaign, and Sam Carter Charlie Atkinson, Mike Williams, Joe Powell and Ben Woollett were released earlier this season.

In a statement, Leicester Tigers general manager, Richard Wilks said: “In professional sport you invariably have to say goodbye to good people at the end of each season and with this group they are all very, very good people.”

“All these lads have made massive contributions to the club. When we look back on the likes of Jasper, Nic and Guy; there’s a lot of pride in their development, becoming international players whilst at the club and they’ll be missed around Oval Park.

“Those guys, Scotty and Franna were also big parts in winning a Premiership title for the club. Those memories will live on past their playing careers.

“We wish all our departing players the best for the future they will always be warmly welcomed back at Leicester Tigers.”

The departures of Dolly, Porter and Scott will see some international pedigree leave Welford Road this season, with Dolly being a particularly heavy blow.

The Australian-born hooker burst onto the scene in 2021, making his England debut off the bench in the famous victory over South Africa, however a nasty knee injury brought his momentum to a halt.

Porter also made his England debut that season, starting against Australia. He would go onto win 5 caps for England, scoring two tries.

His centre colleague Scott is by far the most experienced international out of the trio though. He made his Scotland debut in 2012, and has since gone onto win 40 caps for his country; with the last coming in 2021. He also scored five tries in the process.
