Former Bristol Bears and England prop Kyle Sinkler becomes the latest Englishmen to be named in the Barbarians squad.

The Toulon-bound tighthead will also join fellow Englishmen Ben Youngs, Jonathan Joseph, Danny Care and Zach Mercer in Robbie Dean’s invitational team.

Commenting on joining up with the Barbarians, Sinkler said: “First and foremost, it’s a massive honour for me to be asked to represent the Barbarians.”

I remember growing up and watching the BaaBaas. They’re a team playing with a unique style, packed full of superstar players. It is definitely something I’ve always wanted to experience myself.”

Sinkler made his England debut back in 2016, and has since gone onto win 68 caps for his country. He was part of the 2019 World Cup squad that reached the final too.

He has also toured with the British and Irish Lions on two occasions, and has won seven test caps against New Zealand, South Africa and Japan.

The clash against the Pacific Islanders will be Sinkler’s first time representing the Barbarians, however he has played against them on two occasions for England.

Commenting on the prospect of playing Fiji, Kyle Sinkler said: ““The BaaBaas mean so much to the rugby community, and I don’t think you could line up a more perfect opponent than Fiji for this game.”

“No doubt there’s going to be lots of running rugby, and we’ll hopefully get some great summer weather as well. The Fijian boys are going to be right up for it, running the ball and offloading from everywhere.”

“Both teams will want to win, but will be setting out to entertain the crowd as well. As a front row though, I think the biggest development for Fiji over the last 18 months has been the strength of their scrum and set-piece game.”
