Former rugby league ace Regan Grace drafted into Wales squad

Former St Helens star Regan Grace has been called into the Wales squad for the Summer tour to Australia.

The Bath winger has been called in to replace Ospreys winger Keelan Giles, who has suffered a groin injury.

During his rugby league career, Grace was a core part of the St Helens side that won four back-to-back Super League Grand Finals. He made his debut in 2017, and went onto make 142 appearances in total.

Grace made the jump to union in 2022 to join Racing 92, but has been hampered by an Achilles injury. He moved to Bath earlier this season, appearing in some friendlies during the Premiership break.

He is unavailable to play the upcoming test against South Africa due to it taking place outside of the test window, but he could be in line for a test debut in Wales’ two-test series against the Wallabies next month.

Grace has won six caps for Wales rugby league prior to his switch to union. He also featured in the 2017 World Cup.

In other injury news, Henry Thomas has pulled out of this weekend’s test against the Springboks through injury. Keiron Assiratti comes into the starting XV in his place, and Harri O’Connor is named on the bench.

Wales will announce a final 34-man squad for the tour of Australia after the South Africa game.
