Five venues pencilled in for Investec Champions Cup semi-finals

Five venues have today been selected as hosts for this year’s Investec Champions Cup semi-finals, with two in the UK.

Following on from last year, the semi-finals will again take place at a neutral venue in the home country of the highest seed.

With three Premiership teams still in the hunt for European glory, there are already some English venues pencilled into the diary, with MK Dons’ ground Stadium MK and Bristol Bears’ Ashton Gate confirmed to host games if Northampton Saints and Harlequins reach the semi-finals.

A third unnamed UK venue has also been added to the list if the Bulls earn a ‘home’ tie.

Elsewhere, should Leinster beat La Rochelle this weekend, Croke Park will host its first game of rugby in 15 years. The home of Gaelic Football in Ireland, which has a capacity of over 80,000, last hosted rugby in 2009 as Leinster took on Munster in the Heineken Cup semi-finals.

As top seeds, Toulouse are guaranteed to remain in France in the semi-finals if they beat Exeter; with their game taking place at Le Stadium in Toulouse. Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux will be used if the Chiefs stun Toulouse and Bordeaux beat Harlequins.

Simple, right?
