Cardiff’s Principality Stadium named best rugby stadium in the UK

The Principality Stadium has been named the best British rugby stadium for fans in a recent study.

The home of Welsh Rugby, which is also a popular venue for concerts, beat out the likes of Murrayfield, Ashton Gate and its near neighbour Cardiff Arms Park to the title.

The survey-conducted by Betway– factored in several key elements such as distance from nearest train station, price of return ticket on public transport, average price of accommodation, food and drink venues in the city, meals available at the grounds and number of Instagram posts.

Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park made the list, ranking sixth overall; but in a surprise twist, the Coventry Building Society Arena has made it into the top three-despite it no longer hosting rugby matches following the collapse of Wasps, and London Irish’s former home, the Brentford Community Stadium, has also cracked the top 10.

Darlington Arena-which hosts National One side Darlington Mowden Park-also made a shock entry into the top ten. Twickenham not featuring in the list of UK stadiums.

Rugby League grounds Headingley Stadium-which hosts Leeds Rhinos, and St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium also feature in the top 10, with Headingley ranking as the cheapest rugby ground in the UK.

The study was also conducted on a global scale, with the Stade de France ranking highest across the world. The Boris Paichadze in Georgia and Estadio José Amalfitani in Argentina complete the top three.
