Bristol Bears have today announced Fijian back Siva Naulago has agreed a new deal with the club for next season.

The winger, 32, joined the Bears in 2020 and has since gone onto make 32 appearances for the club. He has also notched 16 tries.

Naulago has struggled with injuries in recent times, however has been involved in the Bears’ past five matches, including the 85-14 victory over Newcastle.

Speaking on his new deal, Siva Naulago said: “I’m so thankful to all the staff behind the scenes at the club – the medical team, the athletic performance department, and of course the coaches and my teammates – for helping me through some tough times on the side lines.”

He added: “I’m enjoying my team with the Bears and can’t wait to repay the faith put in me by everybody at the club. It’s an exciting time to be at the Bears and I’m loving every minute.”

Naulago, a private in the British Army, initially made a name for himself in Rugby League. He made his Super League debut for Hull FC back in 2018, and quickly became one of the best try-scoring wingers in Lee Radford’s team. During his stint at the Airlie Birds, he scored 20 tries in 30 appearances.

Commenting on keeping Naulago at the club, Director of Rugby, Pat Lam, said: “Siva’s return from a long-term injury has been hugely exciting for both him and the team, and his performances since his return have shown exactly what he is all about – pace, power, X-factor, and try-scoring ability.”

“He has worked hard to overcome some big injuries over the past few seasons and has come back, fitter, faster and stronger than ever, so we’re excited to have him back on the field and committed to the Bears for next season.”
