Sale Sharks back-rowers Tom and Ben Curry are the headline reinforcements for Steve Borthwick’s England squad preparing for the summer tour to Japan and New Zealand.Â
Openside flanker Tom only made his Premiership return off the bench in Sale’s 31-23 defeat to Bath at the weekend, following a lengthy spell out with injury. Blindside flanker Ben also missed the World Cup through injury, however he was not selected for the Six Nations.
Joe Carpenter also earns a spot in the squad following impressive performances in Sale’s rise to the play-offs.
Fellow Sharks Bevan Rodd, George Ford, Tom Roebuck and Raffi Quirke also join the 33-man squad.
Elsewhere, Tom Willis makes a welcome return to the England squad for the first time since his debut against Wales. Fellow Saracens Jamie George, Theo Dan, Ben Earl, Nick Isiekwe, Maro Itoje all return.
There is no room for Elliot Daly in the squad.
Joe Marler and Dan Cole also return to the squad following their absences last week, however Guy Pepper has dropped out of the squad.
These players all join the current 19-man squad currently training at Pennyhill Park.
