Harlequins head coach Danny Wilson has said he is in for “another stressful” affair, as his side prepare to take on Northampton Saints at Twickenham
Both teams are in free-scoring mode coming into the weekend’s game. Northampton Saints have scored a collective 99 points in their last two games, with Quins also notching 73 points from their previous fixtures as well.
Speaking to the media today, Wilson said it could be ‘another stressful affair’: “I don’t think this will be a 12-9 game. I think there’s all the chances that this is two sides that are going to go about their rugby as they have done all season.
He added: “Two sides that have an identity in terms of an attacking presence, two sides who are going to want to try and slow down and defend the other side to prevent that. You’re going to see an exciting game of rugby, one that people will want to come and watch. Another stressful affair.”
“Threats right across the field”-Danny Wilson cautious of Saints’ attack
Northampton are basking in a brilliant run of form. A run of 10 wins in a row propelled them to the top of the Premiership. A loss to Bristol ended this run, but since then they have won four on the trot.
The form of the Saints leaves Wilson knowing his team need to be at their very best to win this weekend.
“We’ve got to work hard to put our best version of us out on the field to hopefully get the result,” he said.
“They’ve clearly worked hard and improved defensively; but they also have so much threat on the ball in attack. There’s threats right across the field and there’s threats from deep.”
“They have very dangerous individual players. Collectively that means we’ve got to be right on top of them with and without the ball to be able to break them down. There’s a reason why they’re doing so well at the moment.”
The sides last met in November, with the Saints winning 36-33 on that occasion. Will we see another score-fest this weekend?
